there is a list making the rounds at facebook (which I am not a member of) which i thought was interesting of 100 foods and which have you eaten so I thought I would post it here w/ my comments on these foods (also this will help take my mind off of the imminent demise of a show I once loved, cough).

long ass post is long so I will break it up into chunks.

1. Abalone yes. I love shellfish in general. My dad used to dive for these in Mendocino.
2. Absinthe yes. I tried it at a wedding, I thought i was going to have some sort of mystical experience or something but I just got really drunk.
3. Alligator yes. I had it in sausage. It's tasty.
4. Baba Ghanoush yes. I love Middle Eastern food in general.
5. Bagel and Lox yes. One of my favorite breakfasts.
6. Baklava yes. I love honey and nuts. One of the few desserts i love that I've never tried to make, all those filo layers seem very daunting.
7. Barbecue Ribs yes. I know a lot of good places to get them.
8. Bellini no
9. Bird's Nest Soup no, the few Chinese restaurants that have this charge an arm and a leg for it.
10. Biscuits and Gravy yes, I prefer my biscuits with butter though.
11. Black Pudding no, scary Brit food!
12. Black Truffle yes. I love exotic mushrooms in general.
13. Borscht yes, but i didn't like it. Not a fan of beets.
14. Calamari yes. Squid looks freaky raw but is actually quite tasty, just be careful not to overcook it or it's like trying to eat rubber bands.
15. Carp yes.
16. Caviar yes. I prefer the red kind.
17. Cheese Fondue yes, don't see it as much as I used to.
18. Chicken and Waffles yes. A soul food staple, seems like an unusual combination if you;re not used to it but it's very good.
19. Chicken Tikka Masala yes. I love Indian food.
20. Chile Relleno yes, but there are other Mexican dishes I like better.
21. Chitlins yes, another soul food goodie that isn't to everybody's taste but I like it.
22. Churros yes
23. Clam Chowder yes, I used to live in New England so I grew up on this, I also know how to make it.
24. Cognac yes.
25. Crab Cakes yes, yum yum.

Food list part 2 Electric Boogaloo:

26. Crickets no! I'm open minded but I'm not eating bugs.
27. Currywurst no, I've had curry and I've had wurst but not together.
28. Dandelion Wine no
29. Dulce De Leche yes. Like caramel only even better. I even had homemade dulce de leche ice cream in Mexico.
30. Durian no. I've heard they taste great but I've also heard about the smell.
31. Eel yes. In sushi.
32. Eggs Benedict no, not fond of poached eggs.
33. Fish Tacos yes. In Mexico.
34. Foie Gras yes.
35. Fresh Spring Rolls yes.
36. Fried Catfish yes. I love fried fish in general.
37. Fried Green Tomatoes yes.
38. Fried Plantain yes.
39. Frito Pie yes.
40. Frogs’ Legs yes. They do taste like chicken.
41. Fugu no. You can't get it outside of Japan, and even in Japan it's hard to get ahold of.
42. Funnel Cake yes. Carny cuisine (note House's speech in "Insulin".)
43. Gazpacho yes. It's very refreshing, like a salad that thinks it's a soup.
44. Goat yes. it's very good, like lamb or venison, especially in Caribbean or Indian or Pakistani dishes.
45. Goat’s Milk yes. I used to work at a gas station in a small area and one time this farmer came in and he didn't have quite enough cash on him to pay to fill up his truck so I let him sell me some mason jars of goat's milk to make up for it. I'd had it before but not right out of the goat like that and it was awesome.
46. Goulash yes. I've made this and it's great. get real Hungarian paprika if you want to make it.
47. Gumbo yes. I love it.
48. Haggis no, scary Scots food!
49. Head Cheese no, ewie
50. Heirloom Tomatoes yes, they're great. One time on Bart some dude on his way to a slow food festival gave me a big yellow one just because I showed some interest.

51. Honeycomb yes. The chewiness of the wax with the sweetness of the honey is an intense sensual experience.
52. Hostess Fruit Pie yes.
53. Huevos Rancheros no, not a big fried or poached egg fan. I prefer them scrambled or hard boiled, especially deviled.
54. Jerk Chicken yes. I love very spicy hot food.
55. Kangaroo no
56. Key Lime Pie yes. Not too sweet, not too tart.
57. Kobe Beef no, never had the opportunity.
58. Lassi no
59. Lobster yes, yummy, not as often as I'd like though because it's not cheap.
60. Mimosa no, I prefer champagne without OJ.
61. MoonPie yes. I like the chocolate ones.
62. Morel Mushrooms yes
63. Nettle Tea no
64. Octopus yes, both in Italian and Japanese dishes.
65. Oxtail Soup no, I've had ox tails but not in soup.
66. Paella yes. i love it.

70. Phaal no, I don't even know what it is.
71. Philly Cheese Steak yes
72. Pho yes, it's Vietnamese beef noodle soup and it's great. No resemblance to the beef noodle soup you get out of a can.
73. Pineapple and Cottage Cheese no. ew
74. Pistachio Ice Cream yes. i don't like it.
75. Po’ Boy yes. Trust New Orleans to make a hero something this awesome.

76. Pocky yes, again I like the chocolate ones.

78. Prickly Pear no
79. Rabbit Stew yes, comes from having friends who hunt.
80. Raw Oysters yes, they may look freaky but I love them.
81. Root Beer Float no, not fond of root beer.
82. S’mores yes.
83. Sauerkraut yes
84. Sea Urchin yes, mostly in sushi but once right out of the shell, comes from knowing divers.
85. Shark yes, they eat us, why shouldn't we eat them?
86. Snail yes. If you put enough butter and garlic on anything it'll taste good.
87. Snake no. never had the opportunity. I saw one getting killed on the floor of a restaurant in China in a Michael Palin show and was rather grossed out. I would have probably just ordered the noodles.
88. Soft Shell Crab yes. I love them and they're hard to get ahold of in Calif.
89. Som Tam no
90. Spaetzle yes
91. Spam yes. ew. It reminds me of dog food.
92. Squirrel no. I accidentally ran over one with my car once though.
93. Steak Tartare yes
94. Sweet Potato Fries yes.
95. Sweetbreads yes. a lot of people are scared of organ meats but sweetbreads are actually quite yummy.
96. Tom Yum yes. Love Thai food.
97. Umeboshi no
98. Venison yes, again, comes of having friends who hunt. I even came up with a marinade for venison. It combines ingredients from a Chinese beef marinade and a Mongolian lamb marinade.
99. Wasabi Peas yes
100. Zucchini Flowers no, I've had zucchini lots of times but not the flowers, I've heard they're great fried, I'd like to try them.
