Rules: list the first lines of your last 20 stories. see if there are any patterns.

I only wish I'd been able to write more recently. I'm going to bend the rules a little and in some cases put the first line of a chapter since I haven't written any new fics in quite some time.

1. Lana: Why the hell should Archer be my bodyguard?! (Identity Crisis, House Archer crossover)
2. Cuddy: The federal agents are here! (Identity Crisis, Chapter 2)
3. Krieger: I genetically engineered this stuff myself, do you like it? (Identity Crisis, Chapter 3)
4. Wilson sat up in bed, half opening one eye when he heard the motel room door open. (Ice Cream You Scream)
5. It was a few days before Thanksgiving and Allison Cameron was getting into a cab at the airport, giving her sister Amanda's address to the driver and leaning back in the seat, trying to put thoughts of gunshot injuries and other trauma out of her head. (Ignorance and Knowledge)
6. The bad news, it's 4 AM, and I'm in pain like you wouldn't believe. (I For an I)
7. I've been in this exam room for what seems like ages...but it's really only been a few minutes. (I For an I, Chapter 2)
8. I wound up having to have surgery on my kidney but they didn't have to take it out. (I For an I, Chapter 3)
9. A tall, thin man with a pronounced limp and large, intense blue eyes entered the ski lodge bar. (Icicles and Irish Coffee)
10. Allison Cameron was just getting ready to leave her shift at Northwestern Memorial and was walking out of her office when she looked up and gave a little gasp to see House and Wilson staring at her, Wilson smiling a little shyly and waving and House grinning and looking pleased with himself. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 1)
11. House got far enough in the newspaper story to find out that the latest victim in the serial murders was named Phillip Dalca when Wilson insisted that he put the paper down. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 2)
12. "It's a reference to the Beatles song, 'Lady Madonna'," House said, his expression grim. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 3)
13. House woke up the next morning and went downstairs to find Wilson in the kitchen. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 4)
14. Wilson had decided not to accompany House when the police escorted him to the crime scene.(Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 5)
15. Wilson answered the phone. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 6)
16. House drove to Rush and parked in the lot outside the coroner's lab. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 7)
17. House was fighting an incredible urge to scream with rage, and he managed to keep his voice calm, almost icy. (Ideomotor Effect, Chapter 8)
18. The rental car pulled up in front of the blue and red neon lit strip bar somewhere in Halifax and the passenger door opened, and a tall, thin but somewhat athletic-looking man with large, steely blue eyes and a week's growth of facial stubble climbed out awkwardly, leaned on his cane and said to the other man driving, " If this Wyatt guy was the one in med school who influenced you to become an oncologist in the first place you should probably take all the time you want. I'll see you later, Wilson, I can get a taxi back to the hotel when I'm done here." (I Know What You're Saying, House Trailer Park Boys crossover written for Ficathon Walks Into A Bar)
19. He walked into his office muttering curses under his breath, dumped his papers onto his desk, not caring that half of them fell on the floor, and whipped off his coat, sat down at his desk and paused for a second. (Insidious, Chapter 1)
20. Wilson was driving home from the hospital after having finished a long shift. (Insidious, Chapter 2)

My description of House in #9 and #18 sounds very similar. In general I think my first lines seem pretty straightforward and, I hope, attention getting.
